Access Project 2003 Server through internet and not just LAN?

S

Shivesh W.

Hi:

Is it possible for clients not within the same LAN to log in/and
access the MS Project 2003 web page?

currently, I have these installed:
1) MS Windows Server 2003 Enterprise (I configured it as a web server)
2) MS Sharepoint Portal Server 2003
3) MS Project Server 2003

However, when I tested it from a computer that's not within the same
LAN by typing in something like this on Internet Explorer:

http://(my actual IP address)

it says that it can't find the page, even though when I test it on the
server computer, it works fine.

Does anyone have any idea?

Which IP are you using in IE? If you use the LAN address (a 192.168.x.x
address or something) it won't work externally. If you are using your
external address, how is your router/firewall configured? You may have to
forward port 80 (or whichever port you use for PS) to the server box.

I know it is possible to access PS externally. Sounds like a routing issue
more than anything.

Also, If you want them to have access to your documents Issues and Risks,
you will need add them to your domain as well. Currently, sharepoint through
project server can only accept domain authenticated users.
