access table copied to excel loses some border formatting

I just had MS Office 2003 installed on my computer at work. I previously had
Office 2000. I am always copying query results and pasting them into Excel.
This automatically created light colored borders (grids) in the resulting
table in Excel.

Now, when I copy/paste from Access 2003 to Excel 2003, the borders still
appear, but sporadically; parts of the resulting table in Excel have no
borders while others do. What has happened here? I am doing nothing
differently than before. (I am still running Access 2000 databases in Access
2003. Do not want to convert them as they are used by many others who have
not been upgraded to 2003, and won't be for some time.)
