Access to Portfolio Manager

Gerald

I have another person in my group who has Administrator
assigned to his ID in PWA. We both are running Windows
2000 for our desktop. When he logs into PWA and goes
to "Analyze projects in Portfolio Analyzer" he sees the
views I created but he's not able to use the filters. He
clicks the drop down arrow and sees everything but is
unable to select or deselect anything. Also, when he
tries to create his own views under "Manage Views", he is
unable to drag items from the Field List onto the pivot
table. As a matter of fact, on the pivot table the
following are not visible/available:
- Drop Filter Fields Here
- Drop Column Fields Here
- Drop Row Fields Here
- Drop Column Fields Here
- Drop Totals or Detail Fields Here

He is able to do a save, but of course there is nothing in
the pivot table to show for it.

Any ideas?

Check whether your colleague has Office XP - this is
required for interaction with the analyser.

Note that sometimes itdoesnt work with the first install
of office xp - you may need to removeand reinstall office
web components.

Hope this helps

Gerald:

This is how the system behaves when the run-time version of the Office Web
Components is installed on the user's computer. In order to activated the
full features, a user must have a qualifying Office XP application
installed, which includes Project Professional. IOW, if you all have Office
2000, yet you have Project Pro, you'll get full featured access while the
others get basic functionality.

I have a user in the same boat. He does have Office XP, but not Project
2002 installed.
I've tried detect and repair on his Office XP and have
uninstalled/reinstalled Web Components.
Still, he only gets basic functionality.
Any ideas?

What if the user does have Office XP, but not Project 2002? It should work,
right?

How can I check if the version is the run-time version? The version number
for web components on his machine matches any other machine here.
Thx,
Jesse

Jesse:

How are you reinstalling? I'd uninstall the OWCs and then navigate to the
Analyzer and accept the download and install from there.

Also try checking whether your IS department has created
a particular Office XP install - we had problems with
ours and had to install straight off the cd to fix the
one person who was having problems here (me!) - everyone
else was fine.

Cheers

Paul
