Access to the section file is denied

User1 has "read" access in Notebook1. There are 2 sections of the notebook
which has error "This section contains changes that cannot be synced because
access to the section file is denied. Correct the file permission and save
your copy of this section elsewhere."
It seems that OneNote is still syncing the changes even though User1 only
has "Read" access.
We are using OneNote 2007 and we did the following but still get the same
error.
Installed Office 2007 Service Pack 2
restarted the machine
changed the onenote cache
reloaded the notebook

Did anyone encounter the same issue before?

I assume:
1. that you have set the "read only" access by using the file
permissions in Windows.
2. that the location of the mentioned notebook is on a file share.

OneNote has no concept of "read only" sections. So it wants to sync
changes every time it has access to the section on the share.
A simple possibility to prevent this is to protect the section by a
password which is not known by the "read only" user.

If your goal is to publish periodically some notebooks for information
only (read only), you can periodically copy it to a public place as a
notebook with *.one - files, as one file in *.onepkg format, as a pdf
file (no ON needed) or as Web-package in *.mht file format for IE (no ON
needed).

Thanks Bernd! The folder is located in SharePOint where we also set the
permission as read only. It only happens on this particular notebook. We are
having no issue with other notebooks that we sync even if the access of the
users is just read only.
Anyway, you have a point. We use OneNote for collaboration. If only one user
has the contribute permission and the rest as read it is better to publish it
in Sharepoint as a PDF file.

Oh: Sharepoint !
I don't can help with that. But I am sure PDF is a better solution,
because you are independent of Onenote for reading.
