Access wants password

Hi

I am trying to install an access database onto a clients network. The
datafile is held on the shared server and the code file are copied to the
local client machines ( Server is Windows Server 2000 with XP Pro clients)

Whenever I try and run the code file from the local machine Acces starts and
is asking for a password. However the client has never used Access before,
so I'm not sure what's happening.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Alex

If you are absolutely certain that no one has set a Database password on the
database, then you may have encountered a corruption of the database. One
cause of that can be someone opening the database in MS Word. Doing that
will corrupt the file beyond repair. If that's the case you will need to get
a backup copy of the database. To protect yourself in the future you might
check out the following utility.

Sounds like the "datafile" or "codefile" (in your terms) has been
protected with a database password.

Ask the person who created those files.

Hi both

V Many thanks for your input

No, I dont think that the database is corrupt as I can open it from the same
machines on their shared Network drive. I can also open it on my
desktoip/laptop et al...

And No no passwords have been set. think it has to be a rights issue but
cannot think what !

Lynne - thats a brill site - thanks for the link.
