Access97 System32 file error

N

Nic Fantis

I have developed a Database in Access2000 and the file is
to be shared on a network which currently uses Access2000
and Access97. The Database works fine on Access2000
machines, but on instructing the user to Convert the file
to a prior version.....when attempting to load the file in
Access97 the user gets the following message....

"Access needs System32.mwd file" or (.mwb)?

Any suggestions, the file is not an MDE file. There is
however a little Visual Basic code..

Please email me if you have ideas as what is wrong and how
to fix this.

It is an "MDW" file which you are missing. Access 97 by
default uses the security file "system.mdw" file, which
is in "C:\windows\system32" folder. You can check the
same by running the command "wrkgadm.exe". In case you
are using a secured database in Access 2000, you will
have to convert the Access 2000 system.mdw also to Access
97 and ask the user to connect to this file using the
wrkgadm program.
