Access97 vs. Access2000

Our office is converting from a Windows95/98 desktop and
Office97 to Windows 2000 Pro desktop and Office XP.
We have many .mdb's that were developed in Access 97 and
when one tries to open them with the new Access, they fail.
What am I going to do? Can I somehow uninstall the new
Access and install Access 97 for now so that users can
still work in the meantime until I can fix these mdb's?

Yes, you can do that - or you can install both versions of Access.

However, one of the problems you will have is opening the correct
version of MS Access for each MDB. When you double click on an MDB it
will open the default (or last used) version of Access which is not
always what you want.

You may like to try this shareware utility:

ACCVER - Allows you to work with
multiple versions of MS Access databases.
Detects the version of Access used to create
your MDB, MDE or MDA files and either reports
the version number or starts the appropriate
version of MS Access.
An additional option allows you to compact
the database from a right-click menu item.
