Access97 will not install on Dual Core laptop

I have a new Dual Core laptop and I need to install Access97 on it as the
databases I work with are in 97.
The message I get is "the specified path does not exist" when I try to run
the setup program for Office 97 Professional, it happens whether I try to
install from the original legal CD, from a copy to the Hard Disk or over the
network.
Does anyone have any ideas?

As a test, I just installed Access 97 onto a Dell Latitude D620 laptop
(which uses a dual-core Intel Core Duo processor) and had no problem.

I have the same error installing Access 97 with a Dell 620 dual core. Was
curious if anyone found a workaround..?

As I said, I had no problems, running under Windows XP Pro, SP2.

What operating system are you using?

XP pro SP2 brand new Dell 620 latitude. Autorun will start CD but option to
load office pro does nothing. No error until shutdown then error app failied
to initilaze 0xc0000142. CD options valuepack and key infomation run fine.
Have attempted different licensed CDs and install over the network all error?

Hi,

I had similar problems with Office 97 and the new D620. Whenever I
tried running setup it told me that "the specified path does not
exist".

I found a workaround that did the trick for me: explore the cd, right
click on setup.exe and select "Run As", any user with admin privilidges
will do.
