The majority of items on this list are regarding images and the following
message:

Image is missing a text equivalent (either an alt="x" or longdesc="X").
consider brief alternative text that describes the info tht the image
conveys. You can use the picture properties dialog to add alternative text.

Could someone clarify this for me? Thanks.

Linda:

This is referring to the ALTTEXT attribute. This is used when the image
can't or won't be displayed. Surfers using text only browsers, the visually
impaired using screen readers, and those who turn image displays off in their
browsers are just a few who benefit from this.

To add this text from the GUI, in Design view, right click on the picture,
and left click on Picture Properties. In the General tab, you can add this
text in the Text box.

If you are in code view, you can add the alt="" to your image information

Hope this helps.

Also, the alt text is required for w3c validation and also
search engines place weight on the text included- ie google
will rate the same page higher if relevant text is included
in the alt text box. Alt text will also display a tool tip
in IE on mouseover.
