If I access issues you the 'issues' located on the Tool Bar I'm able to see
all projects and issues. If I click on the "Issue" icon shown by the
project name I recieve an error asking for a password, the message says I do
not have permission. What is the difference?

Thanks

Sorry, If I click issues on the toolbar I see a list of projects but there
is the Issue ICON with a circle around it saying I don't have access. If i
look at the user and category permissions the view issues is set to allow.

Does this occur for all projects you click on in the project centre to see
issues?

When you go to the issues directly from the menu bar, can you actually go
any further? Can you click on a project and see the issues

It sounds like either -

1) You dont have permissions to see issues
2) You are using Project Server authentication which will not give you
access to any WSS related items (Risks, Issues, Documents etc.)

If you check these off and you still can not access issues as you
described... let me know

Yes it occurs for all projects. when accessing issues through the tool bar I
see the projects but still cannot see the issues. We are using windows
authentication. If I look at the category 'view issues is set to allow,
and it is set at the group level.

You have the global permission to see issues
But you dont have the cateory permission to view the documents, issues and
risks for the projects you are looking at.

This needs to be resolved by looking at the groups you are in and the
categories that the groups have relationships with.

E.g. Project Managers and My Projects - you must have the category
permission "view risks, issues and documents" set to allow for you to get
further than the issues main screen

I hope this helps

Can you help me understand this. If at a user level you specify what groups
and categories they have access why do you go to the group and category and
change the permission. I'm not understanding when you set permissions /
projects at a user level and when at a group or category level.
also, if you don't select the 'see all projects in project server data base'
must you select specific projects?
Thanks

One more question. Let's say Person A is in Organization ABC and they are in
the My projects and My Org. categories but you don't want Person A to see
all projects (in their org or a different org) like the My Org category
gives. But I did want Person A to see all resources (any org) when they
build a team so I changed the permission for My Org to see resources only .

I only want Person A to see projects and issues that are owned by people
underneath them and when they are in a custom category (not owned by a
person within their org). How do you do this?
