Accessing my database from a laptop

I have my laptop set up as part of a network in my home. When I access
Access(the file on my desktop) on my laptop, it won'[t let me make any
changes as it says the file is a read only file. I don't have it set up that
way. I want to be able to work on my database either in my office on my
desktop, or outside on the patio with my latop. How do I fix this? Is it a
software issue or the way the network is set up?

You probably copied it on to a CD and the Read Only attribute is set.
Right-click on the file, click properties and clear the read-only flag.
