An off-the-shelf Mac does not come with a newsreader, you'll need to choose
one. There are many to choose from, most free. Take a look at

Your G5 runs Mac OS X. Microsoft's only OS X newsreader is Entourage, part
of Microsoft Office. You could also try running Outlook Express in Classic
emulation, but that's probably not ideal.
