Accessing open workbooks

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I am still having problems accessing open workbooks. If I have multiple workbooks open and i go to the window and click on the workbook all I get is a blip in the screen and does nothing. I have to close all the other workbooks to get to it. I've downloaded all available updates. I don't know what is happening.

Are you using spaces?

This answer solved my problem. Thanks. I had Spaces functional and Excel assigned to Every Space. I changed it to only Space 1 and I am good. But I do not really understand WHY this was a problem. Perhaps you can elaborate.
