accidentally erased microsoft office from my pc?

<sigh> I shouldn't think so - it's actually pretty hard to "accidentally
erase" Office. I suspect that all you have done is to delete the menu
items...

As Gorden wrote, it is not easy to delete MS Office. Could you tell us in
detail what you did and what exactly changed (Why you think it was deleted)
What have you tried to correct the problem?

For future reference, do you have the disks that the program came on and
did Office come with the machine or did you buy it separately?

jose juan--(for some reason i can't reply to the OP)

i know in vista it is quite easy to uninstall office home and student 2007,
*very* easy, just by double clicking it. i did that on another program
thinking i was going to get an information popup....and +puff+ all
gone....<sigh>

fill us in a bit more. what version of office?
what did you do?
why do you suspect it is uninstalled?
AND what do you want to know -- if it's recoverable?

Yes - and then you get a pop-up saying "Do you really want to uninstall..."
So I stand by my post - it is not very easy to "delete" Office....

nope, not in my case. perhaps in this
but i wasn't really talking to you, but the OP.

Okay, Juan, you're not alone on this one. I too 'accidentally' deleted this
program. Thanks to the computer gods who believe we should create our own
backup discs, I have nowhere to turn but this board. My old notebook died in
the midst of transmitting my tax info so creating a backup was the last thing
on my mind. Silly me I thought I could just 'restore' it to the factory
settings. Nope. I've now tried downloading it from the MS site and using my
old product key. That doesn't work either. Short of an act of God is there a
way to reinstall the software without a note from my mom?

I repeat - it's PRETTY DIFFICULT to "accidentally" uninstall Office.

Well, I certainly didn't click 'ok' to intentionally delete the program,
hence the term accidental. Regardless of the intent the issue is how do I
recover what was lost.

I'm not sure about your computer but my laptop did not come with any discs.
Only with a 'restore' feature which I now find is a misnomer. I moved items
from the notebook harddrive onto an external drive unaware that I was
actually moving the program. When I discovered my mistake (because it
couldn't find the program to open a letter I'd written), I tried to move it
back onto the notebook and it isn't recognizing anything.

I apologize if I'm responding incorrectly to questions but I'm not all that
familiar with posting. You're safe though, I haven't gotten an alert asking
me if I want to delete this chat.

Thanks to all who have tried to help. Hope you find a solution, Juan.
