Accounting Express 2008 Newbie

P

PieBald

Please excuse my fumblings, I have a few questions regarding MSOA Express
2008 and an OLD version of Quickbooks I would like to migrate. It appears
that the migration is not available in the UK version, hence I have exported
everything into spreadsheets Chart of Accounts, Transactions etc.
1. Can someone explain how I import the chart of accout, appart from
manually setting it up.
2. The same applys to all the transactions etc.
3. How do I get rid of the upgrade splash screen that appears evry time it
is started.

So to drip on, any help would be appreciated.

Regards P

You will be better off posting your question here:

Some Accountants from UK will reply on Tuesday when new week begins. I
used to be a regular poster there on tax issues but I fell out with the
owner so I don't want to volunteer anymore. I have seen some question
on journals and the like so accounting express is used widely in the
UK. Did you know that you are entitled to get one free copy of
Accounting professional (2008 or 2009) from Microsoft if you join their
Microsoft Professional Accountants Network? Try this link and you can
join for free:

Hope this proves useful.

MS changed their criteria for MPAN registration and qualifying for the free
pro upgrade.
There is a UK specific moa group;
microsoft.public.uk.moa

If you refer to the 'Quick Start screen' in the Pro version there is a tick
box for 'do not show again' this may not be available in Express version.

Likewise there is an Import excel data in Pro version
If this is available in Express I'd suggested opening a sample file
(Northwind Traders) exporting reports to excel so that you can then compare
the fields available with those in your exported QB excel sheets as you will
have to modify the QB excel sheets, prior to importing

That's very interesting. I just downloaded my key for the professional
2009 version. What is the criteria now? I thought that all Chartered
Accountants are entitled to join for free and that is how I joined
them. I have been a member since 2006 and I have downloaded all
versions since 2006 (06, 07, 08, 09) . The only thing is that I don't
use accounting software because my specialism is in UK and International
Tax mainly on compliance side.

Perhaps I should do the Office Accounting Certification Exam for fun and
to get full free license for MS Office 2007 Small Business Version.
Not that I like using office 2007 but if Ms keeps giving us free
software every time there is anew version, why not take it!!

The OP (PieBald) should refer to this article to resolve his problem
over the long weekend we have:

DL, thanks for the info.

I havent looked at criteria recently, but the registration process was taken
offline some few months ago, for 'reconfiguring' and following posts seemed
to suggest MS was requesting all manor of info before they would register
anybody

The criteria changes all the time but it is still possible to register
and download a free copy as long as you meet the criteria. One of the
criteria's is to be a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants
in England and Wales (ACA, FCA) or the Chartered Association of
Certified Accountants (ACCA, FCCA). In USA one has to be a CPA. I have
just sent an email to a friend to register and will let you know
tomorrow of the outcome.

Microsoft wants to dominate the accounting market which at present is
controlled by SAGE so it makes sense to cooperate with accountants who
can recommend the product to its clients. I always do because MS
software tend to be less expensive than SAGE and you get all the benefit
of Microsoft's newsgroups. Sage is very much restricted though they
have reduced their prices and their technical download area is less
restrictive. But it still can't match MS's newsgroups and website.
