POP3 is the incoming mail server type, usually port 110 - it's only used by
a program like Outlook or Outlook express to collect mail waiting in your
mailbox. SMTP is outgoing mail, it uses port 25 usually and it's how mail
servers talk to each other and move mail around the internet.
