Acess 2003 Merged Data cannot be sorted

I merge data from the Access 2003 table into Word 2003 and the data cannot be sorted UNLESS you eliminate the first one or two items and the last one or two items in the list. If anyone can help, please advise

What do you mean by "eliminate the first on or two items and the last
one or two items in the list"? Are you referring to sort options or
your records?
