I've never had to "activate" Office 2000. It DOES need the "CD key"
which was provided with the kit when you purchased it in order to
"install". (25 alpha-numeric characters, in form of
"xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxx-xxxxx".)

However, I think that Microsoft experimented with activation of Office
2000 in a few nations. Since Office 2002 (Office XP), Microsoft has
required all new versions of Office to be activated.

Please try to separate "installation" from "activation" in your
thinking. What you call the "activation code" should be referred to
as the "CD key", used to install the program. All versions of Office
are required to be installed using this "CD key."

"Activation" is a separate process, which has nothing to do with
installing Office, and only applies to SOME distributions of Office
2000, and ALL distributions of Office XP or Office 2003.

If you are UNABLE to boot to Windows, you will have to fix that before
you can reinstall Office 2000. In addition, Microsoft no longer
supports Office 2000, so you will be UNABLE to get a replacement disc
or a new CD key from Microsoft.

If you ARE able to boot intoto Windows, AND Windows 2000 is currently
installed on your HD, you can possibly use the Magic Jellybeans Key
Finder to recover your Office CD key from the Registry.

Also MS does not support Off2000 anymore. If you cannot find the key to install it then you would then need to either find someone on EBay or similar that is selling their Off 2000 or purchase Office XP or 2003
