Activation / Licensing

Hi

I have trawled through the Microsoft site trying to find
an answer to this, but havnt gotten anywhere... Hoping
that someone here can help.

If I purchase a copy of Office XP 2002 from a friend, will
I be able to activate and licence the product OK? Its
retail, not an OEM version, and he no longer has it on his
system (or any other PC)...

Thanks for any help, or pointers where I can find out this
info.

If full retail version of Office XP, you will not have a problem installing
and activating. If the internet option does not work, just use the
telephone option.

If upgrade retail version of Office XP, you must receive the qualifying
product your friend used as it is part of the license for an Office XP
upgrade and are needed to install. Then, as above. Exception: you do need a
qualifying product from your friend if you own a copy of Office 97 or Office
2000 to use as your qualifying product.

Don,

Thanks for your reply... So Microsoft are Ok with people
selling the software to eachother, as long as its not in
use on any other machine when I activate it? ... It wont
be a problem that its a totally different system? I mean,
if I have to ring up, am I ok to say I bought it from my
friend, or will they hang up at that point? I am just
paranoid that I will end up with an expensive drinks
coaster! I do know for a fact that he doesnt have it
installed any more, as I checked myself!

Thanks for any help...

Read the EULA - Microsoft gives you the right to sell your program but I
believe that it prohibits a second sale by the person to whom you sell it.
