Licensing Q

Hi all

My company is now considering replacing all PCs/Laptops and the subject of
MS licensing inevitably arises.

Can anyone give advice on the way forward please?

There will be a total of 35 clients to replace, but they will be swapped out
over a period of maybe 18 months.
I am looking at Win7 64 bit devices with MS Office Pro. My main focus for
these questions is with MS Office rather than the Win7 OS.

Looking at the MS website, there is loads of info regarding open licenses,
value, subscription etc etc enough to make your head spin.
I suppose the question is.. for a company of 35 machines, do any of these
offer real benefits over OEM purchase?
The chances are that hardware will be replaced in 5 years and at this point
the latest OEM offering would be bought.

Looking at the cost of a stand alone license, or these open
value/subscription options, they all seem to cost approx double the OEM
price. The prices referred to are for UK purchase/use.
Would there be significant benefit in our case?
Is it possible to upgrade OEM software to the latest version (I can't find
that on MS website either)?

Thanks

Phil
