Activation of Office Pro after Upgrade to Win XP

Dave

I have a machine that originally shipped with Win ME and a certificate
for free upgrade to Win XP (it was just about to be launched).
Unfortunately, there was a time deadline for the certificate and I
forgot to send it in and the deadline passed. I continued to use Win
ME until a few weeks ago when I bought a digital camcorder and decided
to get into video editing. The software that I bought required Win XP,
so I bought an upgrade package and installed it yesterday.

Now I'm running on Win XP, but a number of things are missing. I can't
run Office XP Professional (which was previously running on the machine
under Win ME). If I try to go into an Office program, it tells me
there has been a significant change in the PC and that I have to
reactivate. It instructs me to put the Office XP Professional CD in,
which I do. It then invariably dumps me into "reduced functionality"
mode.

Note: After running the install of the Win XP upgrade, I got windows
repeatedly suggesting that I needed to re-install Office Pro. After
the re-install, I was suprised to find myself ending up in reduced
functionality hell.

Besides this, the address book from MS Outlook is stripped clean and I
have to re-install the printers.

What should I do?
