Activation of trial software over internet fails

I have recieved and installed office 2003 trial version and visio 2003 trial
version. When I try to activate either one of these products I am told that
my internet connection cannot be found. I looked through the KB articles and
found one that addresses this issue but following the article did not resolve
the problem. Of course you cannot activate a trial product by phone so I am
not sure what my next step is. I tried to just buy an online key to activate
the products but that failed also with a rather cryptic (to me) message
"http://r.office.microsoft.com/r/rlidMSPortal?clid=10338refnum=8req=70141-152-8615627-56993
Application not found" So I can't even buy this product online. I would
really like to use the trial versions to see how they work before buying, but
would buy them now if I was sure I could use them on my machine. Has anyone
else had this problem? Does the message mean anything to you guys? Is there a
next move on my part that I am missing? Thanks for any advice that you can
provide.

Sir,
As I mentioned in my original post, I found the KB article that you
reference but it is of no help. I turned my fire wall off. I do not connect
through a proxy. None of the other MS applications have a problem find the
internet connection.
