activation server is down.

hi,

just wanted to let everyone know the activation server is down.
I did a netstat command to see where is trying to activate from and it is;
131.107.115.36

it seems to use diff. ports but the server is not pingable.

The activation server is NOT down. Just because its not pingable
doesn't mean it's down. A lot of places block ICMP traffic to avoid
DDoS attacks.

The server is actually live. If you go to https://131.107.115.36/ you
can actually see for yourself. It's either a misconfiguration of the
web server itself, or of the office product. Can't imagine what would
take Microsoft engineers so long to resolve it though.

Does anyone else get in IE 7 that certificate in RED. IE 7 states its
invalid, could this be related in the Office code if its using SSL with an
invalid cert to activate the product?

It could be that, OR they could possibly be using a distributed load system
where one machine is handling the webserver, one handles the activations, one
handles the DB's etc. Just because it shows up there doesnt mean that the
activation server is up...
