Active X Bar doesn't show up

Trying to check for updates in office XP. It says click on Active X Bar and
download. No bar shows up. Follow all instructions and still cannot check.
Is there anyother way to check for updates?

You're just going to have to ignore it and wait. The server's FUBAR'ed,
nothing to do with you, I'm having problems too. The downloads are stored on
one server (so I believe) so, if you cannot get them automatically, you
won't be able to manually, either.

Patience, grasshopper.... ;o) Least now I know it isn't my crappy ISP.
