ActiveDocument.BookMarks.Count giving wrong count

ActiveDocument.BookMarks.Count is giving me wrong count. Do anybody know why ?
Is there any other command to get the count.

Is the count more or less than you expect?

Where are the bookmarks in the document located? I assume some are in the main
body of text. Where else have you inserted them? Headers, footers, textboxes...?

Does the document contain any cross-references? Tables of content, figures, etc?

Which version of Word are we dealing with?
