Whenever I initiate an ActiveSync session, rapimgr.exe and WCESMgr.exe
establish active TCP connections to 169.254.2.1. (netstat -ao tells me
this). 169.254.2.1 belongs to the IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers
Authority).
My question is: "Why would rapimgr.exe and WCESMgr.exe need to connect,
actively, to a machine owned by the IANA?"
And, if the IANA adheres to standard TCP/IP numbering schemes then this
connection is "to a router".
I know that these TCP connections appear when I initiate an ActiveSync and
are held open as long as the ActiveSync session is active. When I terminate
the ActiveSync session, these connections die.
If anyone can shed some light on this one I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Brian
