ActiveX & Access doesn't seem to like each other

I have already wasted a lot of time on this nasty problem:
Running Access 2007 on Vista Enterprise (all up to date) I get the following
message when I try to add an ActiveX control/class to a form:

The operation on the OLE object failed
The OLE server may not be registered
To register the OLE server, reinstall it.

The Triedit.dll solution doesn’t apply to Vista and all other requests for
help concerning this problem were negative.
But I saw something weird, the Trust Center Settings for Access lacks the
“ActiveX settings†option that is visible on the settings of Word or Excel.
So I removed and reinstalled Office but that didn’t solve the problem, so if
anyone has another idea I’d be much obliged.

One more reason why I try to avoid ActiveX controls like the plague. I will
only use them if I have no other options as they are a pain at times when
working with Access and can also cause problems when bringing other
computers, other than the development one that the Access database was
developed on, into the mix.

I use ActiveX controls regularly. For instance I embed a PDF reader in a
form. You just have to make sure they are included in the install on any
PC's or manually register the ActiveX control.

Thanks for replying but no way.
I'm a little late with my reply due to the fact that you must be logged in
before you can use the links in the automated mails MS sends you.
In the meantime I decided to use C#, an overkill for a small problem but C#
at least has all the controls available.
This was my first try on Access 2007, I never had any problems with previous
versions, I must say I’m not entirely happy with this one…

I don't know what you mean by no way but glad to hear you found a solution.
By the way, I have not yet upgraded to 2007.
