ActiveX Control

Frank

We just installed 2002 and now we're at the point were the
users need to log into PWA. The problem is that most users
don't have admin right's to there own PC. I just wanted to
get some idea as to how I can make this work. How do most
of you get around the ActiveX controls that need to be
downloaded? If I have our NT group use SMS what do they
need to install?

Thanks

Hi Frank,

This is a general article relating to automating the overall install with
SMS:

There is a Technet article for deploying the ActiveX controls with SMS
however, the page seems to be down. Check the links within this page to get
what you are looking for. In the meantime, I will inform MS of the broken
links and will try to get back to you on this shortly.

You either need to get local admin access to the
machine...usually one person can run around and download
the new control...or if your machines are locked down so
tight, then there must be an update script that runs
under an admin account access level when you start your
machine...this is how they update your software, OS and
antivirus I suspect...Give your administrators the Active
X download and tell them to add it to the script...they
might fuss, but once they test, they will see it works
fine...then your issues are resolved once the user logs
in again...
