Activities > Task Updates are going to the Task Creator not plan o

A

Avi

We have come across this issue where if you create an activity, assign a plan
owner and create tasks assignments, the task updates are being sent to the
person who created the task - not the plan owner.

So, I created activities and the tasks, changed plan owner, save/publish but
I continue receiving task updates.

It seems like the plan owner him/her self has to create tasks in order to
allow
him/her to receive updates.

Anyone come across this one? Is this a documented bug?
Very weird!!

We are on Project Server 2007 SP1 + July IU

Avi:

There is a field that you can insert into a task or either the task usage or
resource usage view called Status Manger. This determines who receives the
updates. So, if Bob is the first to "publish" the assignments, the system
automatically assumes that Bob will be the status manager. To change the
status manger, the next person now needs to open the plan and set the Status
manager field to him/herself and then publish the project again to have the
assignments change to her control.

Avi,

In 2007 the person receiving the updates would be the "Status Manager" which
has to be manually changed on a task by task basis. The person responsible
for receiving the updates needs to open up their project schedule and insert
the field "Status Manager" in a Gantt view. Then change the value to their
own name and drag and drop the value all the way down. Then save and
publish. All pending updates should transfer to them as well.

Also, make sure that "Assignment Owner" is set to the resources that are
assigned the tasks. "Assignment Owner" determines who sees the assignments
in their "My Tasks" page. This doesn't necessarily have to be the person
that is assigned to the task.

Hope this makes sense.

Thank you for the reply. Status Manager is possible in Project Plans but not
in Activities. Activity plans (created and managed in PWA | Proposals and
Activities) are limited and have no status manager field. It only has Plan
owner and I would assume the plan owner will receive all task updates but
that is not true w.r.t my original post.

I am suspecting this is a bug...

Hi Avi,
I have the same problem. I Didn't find the place to change the "Status
owner" for Activities. Have you find any solution? Maybe after the new
owner of the activity publishes the activity, he will start recieving
the updates himself?
