Actual Duration versus Duration

Laureen

Hello,

I am trying to create a view that shows projects that are completed and
whether or not they finished according to our red, yellow, or green scale.
My Duration variance is measuring the difference between "Duration" and
"Baselined Duration". I think it should be measuring the difference between
"Actual Duration" and "Baselined Duration". My questions are:

1. How does the "Duration" field and the "Actual Duration" field relate to
each other.
2. Is the "Duration Variance" a custom field or a field that MS calculates
on it's own?

Any information on these fields would be helpful.

Thanks,

Laureen,

Duration = Actual Duration + Remaining Duration
Duration variance = Duration - Baseline Duration (Calculated field!)
(When the task is finished, Duration = Actual Duration)

Hope this helps,

Thank you, this does help. So, I am correct in saying that if a project is
closed/complete, but has not marked all tasks 100% complete - the Duration
and the Actual Duration might not be in sync. Therefore, my indicators may
not be true?

Lauren,

That's correct : <<the Duration and the Actual Duration might not be in
sync>>
