Actual Finish Date

After my users update and the Project Mnager accepts them. The ACTUAL finish
date is always being populated with the originally scheduled finish date. As
an example, if I had a task with a finish date of 8/24/05 and the person
finishes it on 9/1/5, I would expect the ACTUAL finish date to be 9/1/5.
However, it shows up as 8/24/5. How do I correct this?

It sounds as though you're using percent complete collection in your
timesheets or hours worked and remaining in periodic buckets larger than
days. If that's the case, how would the software know when the work actually
occurred? This is a serious limitation in the collection method, not the
software. If you collect hours on a daily basis, the software can determine
the start date and end date. If you either collect percent complete or work
in larger-than-one-day buckets you either need to also collect actual start
and actual finish or have your Project Managers update this in Project
directly.
