Hi,

is it possible to find out the actual work done for a period defined.
My objective is to find out how much of actual work is done per task for a defined period. Say for a week or for a month.

I used the "Date Range" filterin project professional but it doenst seem to produce the figure what i required. My objective is to find out the work performed between two calender days.

pls suggest.

cheers
arun.

Thanks and sorry for the delay in replying. Due to unavoidable reason i couldnt log into the forum for a long time

btw, thanks for ur explanation about getting that report. Is it possible to create a filter for such things and get the information in the project itself. It would be great if you can help me out in finding out from which table to pick the data from
Thank
Arun

We do a lot of this type of reporting. While PS03 has some nice tools for reporting, we typically do our "serious" reporting on the database back-end using Crystal Reports against the SQL Server tables directly

Reporting against the back-end gives us far more flexibility in reporting including the date-range question you asked as well as more complex reporting structures like "Hours for projects in these groups in March, excluding hours by resources located in Boston"

Equally imprtant to us, we extract our effort data from the employee task list tables, not from the project tables. We do this because a PM can accidentally create actual work in a project where there was no work done by a resource. When we use this data for financial calculations we need to ensure that we are reporting on the hours a resource actually charged

Let me know if you would like more information about this stuff
