Actual work hours "pre-populating" problem

Can anyone help ID and correct a strange behavior within
Project Professional:

What is happening is that for some reason, Project is "pre-
populating" the actual work entries for some resources, in
some projects, in some months, in advance.

It appears to be happening only within a few projects, not
all tasks, and only for certain people. We also notice
that the actual work matches the planned work entry
exactly.

Note that these hours appearing in advance are not showing
up on anyone's time sheet in advance - they are showing up
in the MS Project Task Usage view and also in the OLAP
cube and the portfolio analysis tools.

Any ideas on why this is happening and how to fix it/stop
it would be appreciated.

That's one of the things that occured to me, but I did not
find any evidence of this. On the other hand, I didn't
ask...

What else could cause this??
