Actual Work includes Overtime

In Project 2002 and PWA, Actual Work INCLUDES Actual Overtime Work, whereas
in Project Central Actual Work did NOT include Actual Overtime Work.
This allowed me to show overtime hours or not. Now, I'm stuck with them
showing up all the time - either explicitly broken out if "show overtime
work" is checked or implicitly included in actual work if it is not checked.

I am looking for suggestions to strip out the overtime work, since I cannot
do it like I used to in Project Central.

TIA,
Jesse

More observations/problems:

1) Resource Enters the following and sends an update
Act Wk: 0h
Act Overtime Wk: 2h

2) PM Updates Project, which now shows
Act Wk: 2h
Act Overtime Wk: 2h

3) Timesheet and assignment views do NOT match project usage views
in the project...
Act Wk: 2h
Act OT Wk: 2h
BUT in the PWA timesheet/assignment views...
Act Wk: 0h
Act OT Wk: 2h.

4) PM republishes and overwrites work (for whatever reason)
Now, the timesheet shows
Act Wk: 2h
Act OT Wk: 2h

So, now I have inconsistent historical data.
For those tasks that have never been republished and overwritten Actual Work
does NOT include Overtime.
However, for those tasks that have been republished/overwritten Actual Work
DOES include Overtime!

Looking for a "best practice" for overtime...

Jesse:

The behavior is by design. The timesheet view and View Resource Assignments
view reached from the Resource Center, will contain whatever the user
entered for actual work value until the user changes it or the Project
Manager overwrites it by republishing. In this case the user entered zero
actual work, and 2 hours overtime work. As you can see, the Project gets
updated when the update is run which takes in data from the timesheet, but
doesn't synch calculated values back to the timesheet unless republish is
executed selecting the checkbox to overwrite actual work in the timesheet.
The moral of the story is to be careful in choosing your data source and
procedurally support its integrity.
