Actuals do not match Actual Work Protected

I have just published a plan that has approx. 30% of all work completed. When
I receive a task update from a resource, the update only accepts the new
hours and removes the original hours that were in the plan before publishing.
How do I protect these original actuals?
We are not using managed time periods and our progress reporting method is
Hours of work done per day or per week.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you manually enter the 30% of the work that was done previously? If so,
you needed to click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments, select
the "Ovewrite actual work entered by resources" option, and click OK to
"push" the manually-entered actuals to each resource's timesheet in PWA.
Hope this helps.

Yes it does help, however I do have some protected actuals, as I have
accepted hours for one reporting period through Project Server - will I loose
those hours?

Thanks,

Projected actuals are only used with the Managed Time Periods option in
Project Server. You should not lose those numbers, however. Hope this
helps.

Hi Dale,

I have done as you suggested and republished all assignments - overwrite
actual work entered by resources. When I go to PWA to update a resources
actuals, I loose all of the historical data (actuals) that I have entered
into the plan so far, in some cases that is several hundred hours.
Any ideas?

Thanks.
