Actuals gone in PWA

When I was working on a project file, it would not let me save it because it
said that I did not have the project check out. I thought that I handled the
issue by saving the file I was working on with a different file name, then
deleting the old one, and changing the name back to the original name and
republishing.

However, this morning, NO ONE can see their tasks in PWA. I published, no
help. I then selected just myself and “republished assignments†and I can see
my tasks now – but the problem is that I cannot see ANY of my actuals – they
are gone! Its nuts though because there is still actual work protected in the
..mpp file for everyone. I have waited on republishing assignments for
everyone cause they WILL freak out if their hours are gone. Can anyone
please, please help?

In the future, please post your Project Server questions in the
microsoft.public.project.server newsgroup, as this newsgroup is devoted to
the Microsoft Project desktop application only. To answer your question,
when you import a project back into the Project Server system, you need to
do the following:

1. Click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments.
2. Select the "Overwrite actual work entered by resources" option.
3. Click OK.

I suspect you failed to do step #2, which is the step that "pushes" actuals
from the Microsoft Project plan to each team member's View My Tasks page in
PWA. Hope this helps.

Dale,

Would this approach push Actual Work or Actual Work Protected into PWA?

Are you using Managed Time Periods? If so, you cannot use the Republish
technique I referenced unless you have your Project Server admistrator
disable Managed Time Periods temporarily. To the best of my knowledge, it
pushes Actual Work but I have not had the time to research it. I would be
glad if someone else would jump into this thread and confirm/deny what I
just said. Hope this helps.
