AD Sync and non AD equipment scheduling

Mr. Mohr

We are running Project Server 2003 with enterprise options. Our enterprise
resource pool is populated via active directory. We have some machinery that
we want to be able to add as a resource to be scheduled via Project.

Is it possible to create this resource in project server without creating an
AD account for the device?

It seems that the only way for me to do this is to create an AD account for
the equipment and add it to the enterprise resource pool but I would rather
be able to create it just within project server.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I think the easiest way to address this is to simply add the equipment
resources to your Enterprise Resource Pool. Since the equipment resources
do not have a Windows user ID, you should not enter anything in the Windows
User Account field for them. When you save the Enterprise Resource Pool
with the new resources added, Project Server 2003 will create a Project
Server authenticated user account for each resource. This means that these
equipment resources will be bypassed during each AD update cycle. Hope this
helps.

Dale,

I appreciate your imput... however, we are not using mixed authentication..
just windows. When I try to create the resource I get the error on the
Validate Enterprise Resources screen "Invalid Windows Account"

Am I missing something or is this not possible since I am using windows
authentication only?

Thanks!

If you want to solve your problem the easy way, you need to re-enable Mixed
Authentication. Hope this helps.
