This might have been asked already(sorry if it has), but I want to add a page to my fp site(link below) for a place to add pics for newsgroups, and I don't want people I don't want to see them see them. Hopfully I want to be able to add usernames and passwords for single people, not just one username and password for all. I am using fp 2000.

You must have the remote web open to use this function, and only if the host
allows it. Many don't.

Apparently, your host does not allow it. You'll need to contact them.

Of course it is grayed out for me too.

I've always be confused when someone says to open it on the server side.
When I hit publish, I get split screen showing the local copy and the server
files on the right. But how do you open the server files with FrontPage?

T

Tom Pepper Willett

You open the remote web by going to FP: File | Open Web (or Site if 2003)
and put in the URL of your remote web.

In 2003, bottom, select the remote website tab. You will then be presented
with a password logon screen. Log on, and you will see *Open your remote
site in FrontPage*. There are other ways as well, including shortcuts and
network places if you need to do this often.

This works and my server seems to allow me to manage passwords. However, I
selected the subweb for password protection when in fact, this is trying to
have me place user/passwords for the entire website.

I will have more time to look at this later today. Gives me some ideas on
changes ... if I can get it to work correctly.
