Add Cost Resource Assignment from PSI

R

Radu

Hi,

I'm tried to add a cost resource assignment on a task using PSI, project web
service. The assignment adn the value of the cost for this assign is
displayed correct in PWA (Assign cost view from project center). When i open
the project with Project Professional the value of the cost is 0.
Is there a way to assign costs to tasks from PSI ?
(As an workaround i used material resource instead of cost resource. But i
don't know if this is a good idea and what implications can have)

Just to make sure I'm interpreting you correctly, you assign a cost
resource to a task using the PSI and PWA shows the correct data in the
Cost field but Professional doesn't?

Hi Stephen,

Yes, this is the exact behaviour. In PWA, the assignment cost view shows the
values but when i open the project in Professional the value is always 0.
Tried to uncheck the autocalculate option from options in Proffesional but
the same behaviour.
When using Matterial resources the costs are saved and displayd correctly
(only if the automatic calculate costs is unchecked)

After all, is a correct approach to use Matterial resources for things like
Transaportation, Accomodation etc ?

What patchlevel are you using for the client and server? Before I try to
repro this behavior, I want to be sure you're running a recent version!

As for how to use Material resources, my personal preference is to use
Material resources for things like equipment, buildings, etc. and to use
Cost resources for T&E consumption (e.g. transportation, lodging, etc.).

Just to confirm, you have SP1 with the Infrastructure Update for both
Client and Server?

Is this a development environment that you are free to patch?
