Add Custom Field to Summary View in PWA 2007

James Culshaw

Hi,

I have created an Enterprise Custom field based on a Microsoft article to
show a graphical indicator for Project Cost. I have added it as a column in
all my projects in Project Server 2007. In the actual Project files it show
and works fine. I have tried to add it to the summary view in Project Centre
in PWA but it doesn't appear in the list of available fields. I know it can
be done as there is a screenshot of what I want to do in various Microsoft
documents on Project Server 2007 PWA.

Can anyone provide any help. This is one of my number one tasks as the
executives are screaming for it.

thanks,

James :)

James:

You must publish one of your projects to get these to show up in the Manage
Views area of PWA. Once you publish a project that uses your new enterprise
custom fields, you'll find them in the picklist alphabetized based on the
field name.

James:

Did you use the publish in the PWA screen or the one from the File menu in
Project? If you used the former, it won't show up. Open a project using the
Project client, press F9 to recalculate the schedule and make sure that the
field displays properly in the Project client. Then use Publish from the
File menu. This should do it.

Hi,

I published from project and it still doesn't appear.

When I choose to create a new view and I select the View Type to be Project
then it appears in the available field list.

If I select Project Center view then it no longer appears in teh available
field list.

Does the field you want to display in PWA appear in the project
information form in MS Project? If it doesn't you have misunderstood
the step of creating project level indicators and you are probably
trying to display a task enterprise value rather than a project
enterprise value.

Thanks for that. I created a new field and set it to project rather than task
and I was able to add it to the summary view.
