Add folder & sub folders to favorites

S

Sue Mosher [MVP-Outlook]

Since "favorites" can mean two different things in Outlook 2003, you'll need
to describe what you have in mind.

L

Lew

Well, I have a folder, "Programming." There are no email messages in it, but
it does have a number of subfolders, one for each language I work in. I'd
like to move Programming into my "Favorites" pane so that I have easy access
to the language subfolders.
BTW-- what's the other thing "favorites" can mean?
-Lew

S

Sue Mosher [MVP-Outlook]

Do you mean the Favorite Folders section at the top of the Mail navigation
pane? Outlook also supports Favorites in Public Folders in an Exchange
environment.

Adding a folder to the Favorite Folders section of the Mail pane has no
bearing on your navigation to any subfolders. You'd need to add them, too.

Create a shortcut - either on your quick launch bar / desktop or hyperlink a
toolbar button - to the programming folder and it'll open a new outlook
window with that folder open and you'll be able to easily access the
subfolders.

I don't understand what you mean.
outlook:toplevel
outlook:toplevel/
both appear to work. A single subfolder works with
outlook:toplevel/sublevel

ie the double forward slash doesn't work, but, in either case, Outlook opens
the folder itself, not a folder view with subfolders listed in it.

Thanks anyway.

-Lew

S

Sue Mosher [MVP-Outlook]

Did you try following the format I suggested, including the double slashes
before the store root name and the closing single slash?
in either case, Outlook opens the folder itself, not a folder view with
subfolders listed in it.

That's normal behavior. Outlook never shows subfolders, except in the Folder
List pane.

Also note: The newsgroup interface you are using apparently does not quote
earlier messages in the thread, making your latest message so short on
detail that you risk not getting the answer you're looking for. Please take
the time to quote the original message.

Yes, that's exactly what I tried & wrote in my previous post. The double

you need to use ctrl+6 to show the folder list - then you can see the
