Add From Outlook and Save as Outlook Contact are disabled in the m

I am developing a database in Access 2007 and am struggling with a variety of
things which work fine in the MS sample dayabase but refuse to work in mine.
I have also noticed that the two Outlook items in the More tab in the Records
section of the Home tab on the ribbon are disabled. I can find no settings
that disable these items and they are available in the sample dbs.
Any ideas please?
