Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Hello: I have already followed directions given on mactopic. However, the add button on the dictionary is greyed out. How do I add these words, so that the dictionary recognized them and corrects these when I might accidentally misspell such. Example: Bhava Samadhi, Chesed,
hieros gamos (these are English transliterations of Sanskrit, Hebrew and Greek, respectively). Thanks you for your help.
This problem was fixed, by Apple tech, when I first got my system and was running Leopard. Yesterday I upgraded to Snow Leopard and it has resurfaced. I run a very small school and do appreciate your help with this. Amber Jayanti

I have already followed directions given on mactopic. However, the add
button on the dictionary is greyed out.

That's a sign of corruption of the dictionary.
The easy way out is to trash the custom dictionary and start fresh.
Short of that, you can open the preferences, then go to spelling to
open the dictionary in Word from there.
Make a slight modification (add a space then remove it) and save.
Hopefully it will save the file encoding issues and bring the custom
dictionary back to life.
