Add prior e-mail to Outlook Business Contact History

I have hundreds of contacts, and am moving individuals to Business Contact
Manager as I go along. I sent an e-mail to one person, then realized I
should "elevate" him to Business Contact. Did so. But now that initiating
message cannot be associated as an e-mail in the Business Contact History. I
tried clicking on it in Sent items dragging and dropping it into the history
(which would, e.g., work to forward an e-mail, so is intuitive), but instead
of adding it as an e-mail, it opens up/saves it as a Note window -- which not
only misclassifies it, but also seems befreft of interesting information.
This should be a really easy link to make, both in the underlying
architecture and for the user. Am I missing something? The History function
seems very rigid and uneditable (I had a similar problem trying to log a
phone call from a prior time -- this thing requires you be at your computer
and remember to start a stopwatch to log a phone call -- I'm not a
telemarketer!).

Doc Keith,

If I understand your post correctly you first initiate an email from a
standard Outlook Contact record. You then create ("elevate") a Business
Contact record from this Outlook Contact record by either moving or copying
it into the Business Contact Folder. You then are trying to go back to the
previously sent email and link it to the newly created ("elevated") Business
Contact Record. Do I have that right? Assuming I do, there is a very simple
way to manually link this previously created email message to the new
Business Contact Record.

To do this, open the email message and (in the upper right of the toolbar)
click on the "Link to Record" button. This opens a dialogue box for you to
select from and link to any desired BCM record.

Without assuming that you have not already done so, I would suggest reading
through the BCM users guide again. I found this to be useful for me to
really understand certain details about how BCM works.

Hope this helps.

Excellent! I had forgotten that "Link To" box appeared in my e-mails. Hey,
I may given this another chance (I was off looking at Prophet as an
alternative when I got notified of your post).

On the other hand, for dummies like me, the intuitive "drag and drop" (and
I'm geeky enough to do Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V, too) is a valuable alternative in those
senior moments.

Thanks again! You may have saved me $150...
