Add space between paragraphs

I have a long article with many paragrahs. The first half has a empty line between all paragraphs. And the second half do not has any empty lines between the paragraphs. I want to style to be consistent. So I want to either delete those empty lines in the first half of this long article or add empty lines within the 2nd a half.
Hopefully you can understand what "empty line" is. I fogot the corret expression way in English. When talking about "line", I mean the "row", or space between paragraph.
Thanks in advance.

The good way to put a space between paragraphs is to use the 'Space before'
(or 'Space after') value in the style definition. Do not use extra paragraph
marks to add space. So --

1. Delete the empty lines by using Find and Replace: search for ^p^p and
replace with ^p.

2. Make sure all normal paragraphs have the default normal style: select the
paragraphs, select Normal from the style list, press ctrl-q.

3. Define the normal style to have the amount of space you want between
above paragraph: Format > Style. Set the space before value. Try 6pt, and
see whether you like it.

Thanks for your help. I agree that it is a better way to use the 'Space before' or 'after' when writing new article.
However this doesnt solve my problem. I got an article which has an not consistant style. And I have to either delete the lines in the first a half of the article or to add lines in the 2nd a half.
Have any easy way to solve it?

Although I would be leary of adding space to Normal style, which can have
trickle-down effects on Heading and other styles.
