Added Icons to Toolbars Won't Stay

I typically have the "Close" icon up in my formatting toolbar.

This morning when I logged in at work, my profile was corrupt and would not
load. Therefore we had to create a new profile and I had to reset all of my
PC nuances.

When I attempt to add the "Close" icon to Word, it stays there all the time
I have Word open. when I close Word and then reopen, it's gone and I have to
re-add it.

Anyone know what's going on with this?? It's never happened before, and I'm
not sure how the corrupt profile could have affected it...
