AddIn won't load on one Word 2007 system

David Thielen

Hi;

We have a customer where our AddIn won't load on Word 2007 on one of their
systems. (It runs fine on all the others.)

1) Does Word 2007 tell you why an AddIn won't load?

2) Where is the "diabled addins" list in Word 2007? It's not in Help/About.

3) Anything new we should check in Word 2007?

Hello Dave,

You could go to the Office Button, and click Word Option. There is an
Add-ins Tab which show all the add-ins' status.

Sincerely,

We checked all those registry settings as referenced in that article and they
are correct. But again, it does not load and it is not listed in the list of
AddIns. This is for Word 2007 on Vista and the user has the Vista security
turned off.

This AddIn works on thousands of systems and this user is using the same
install program as works on every other computer. But on this one system it
is not working.

How can we find out why Word is not seeing it?

Hello Dave,

Microsft Windows Vista will not activate COM components that are registered
in the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER (HKCU) hive when the process is running with an Integrity
Level
(IL) of High.

Please use the ProcessExplorer to check whether your Word process is
running under the IL of high.

If so, please change the default setup project of the VSTO solution to
create the necessary registry entries to HKLM.

Hope this helps.

Hello Dave,

It does not matter with VSTO but COM component.

You could use the ProcessExplorer to check it.

Hello Dave,

You could check the View-> Select Columns -> Integraty Level in the newest
version of ProcessExplorer.

Office Add-in is a COM component.
