Adding a background color

Adding a background color throws off the margins on my
doc. Also, the "Print Preview" shows a completely
different layout. Anyone know why?
More importantly, does anyone know how to resolve this?

You can't Print Backgrounds, they are for Web Layout.

Thank you for the reply - I know that the background color
can not be printed and was not trying to do that. The
problem is that adding a background color to my document
shifts the margins and paragraphs all over the place so
that the text is scattered- no rhyme or reason.

You can only see the background color in web view. Might this be the
difference? Try normal or print view.
