Adding a customized small icon to a home page

B

Bill-L

Can anyone here please tell me that if we can use
FrontPage to add a customized small icon to a home page,
such that when the page is minimized, it shows a special
icon, or when the page link is added to the Favorites, it
shows a special icon?

Thanks!

Thank you JDR and Steve Easton!

I created the favicon .ico file, put the iocn file on the
site folder, and added that line in the <head> tag, but
the page URL still doesn't show, nor will it show when
the URL is added to the Favorites list.

So what can be wrong here? If I open the icon files
directly in IE, it does show properly.

Thanks again for any help!

You have to add the site/page to IE favorites to see the icon.

Thank you Thomas!

I did, and the IE favorites shows a broken icon. The only
thing I can tell, is that the right now the page and the
icon file is on a lcoal server where I store all the
source files and image files - they are on a local server
with the FP extension installed. I have not upload the
page and the icon file to the live web site yet. I don't
know if that would make any difference in terms of seeing
it's working, but I'd imagine it should, so I am puzzled
why it doens't show.

Anyway, thank you all for your help. If anyone has any
troubleshooting tips, please let me know.

Thanks!

The favicon must be in the root of the root web, and must be published to
the hosrt/remote server.

If you have previously added the site to your favorites, it will still display the old or "default"
icon.
You will need to remove any old links including the one in favorites, and then recreate desktop
shortcut and / or add it to your favorites.

You might also have to rebuild / repair icons using TweakUi in the control panel.
