Adding a new category in Visio2003

Hi,

In the past (Visio 5) it was very easy to add a new category for Visio
templates. You just went to the 'Solutions' directory, added a new
subdirectory and then placed your templates in this directory. After
restarting Visio, you had your new category --next to the others-- as one of
the items in the pull down menu, for selection.

In Visio 2003, however, the 'Solutions' directory is not there anymore.
I've seen that all stencils and templates are now 'thrown on a heap' in the
directory 'Visio2003\Visio11\1033'.

My question: how can I make again a separate category and add my own (new or
adapted) stencils/templates (so, see my new category appearing when pressing
the pull down arrow on the 'New' icon)?

Befalls the sons of the Earth... "

Hi,

Check Tools -> Macros -> Security

Set it to law.

Plase the stencils & templates in a folder & Give the file paths in Tools ->
Options -> Advance -> File paths.

Did this, but it doesn't seem to work... Still don't see my
templates/stencils in the category overview.

Any more ideas? Or what could have gone wrong?

You can use the File Paths on the Advanced tab of the Options dialog. You
need to enter a full path now.

Alternatively, you can publish your solutions using the Publishing Tool in
the Visio SDK. This changes an existing windows installer file (.msi).
This is the recommended method now.

Little late to the part here, but I have the same basic
question... However, I'd like to add the stencils after
Visio has already been installed.. Is this possible? I
would hate to have to re-install Visio in update mode as
some of the users are on slow WAN links.

Getting a little OT, does the same method apply for Visio
2002?

Thanks!
